Oliver appointed Composer-in-Residence of the London Choral Sinfonia

Oliver has been appointed the new Composer-in-Residence of the London Choral Sinfonia, directed by Michael Waldron, who have commissioned him to write a choral work based on Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy's poem The Christmas Truce for their forthcoming Christmas concert at St John's Smith Square on 6th December, 2015.

Future plans with the LCS also include a commercial recording project and a new large-scale choral and orchestral work, setting texts by Aristophanes.

"Rudland's 'Pincher Martin' Success"

Oliver's new opera, Pincher Martin, based on the novel by William Golding, has received rave reviews for its premiere performance at the Royal College of Music Britten Theatre. Writing for Bachtrack, William Hunt concluded that:

'Rudland appear[s] to have achieved that rare and valuable object: a contemporary work that is both challenging yet accessible. Despite its disturbing subject matter, it is lyrical, inventive, and above all a thoroughly engaging work.'
