I. The Old Church Tower
II. The Moon
III. The Coal Miner
IV. The Horses
V. The Catch
Written as a companion piece for Ralph Vaughan William’s On Wenlock Edge, but featuring the baritone voice, this cycle sets five poems by Yorkshire poets about Yorkshire life. It includes settings of The Horses by Ted Hughes, The Catch by Simon Armitage and The Old Church Tower by Emily Brontë.
Yorkshire Songs is a powerful showcase for the baritone voice, and a valuable contribution to the available repertoire for baritone and chamber ensemble.
For performance the parts and score are available for rental.
