The Recorder Workshop, for use in classrooms, is a collection of arrangements written in order to introduce children to the experience of rehearsing and performing music together in an ensemble situation. It has been written in such a way that (for instance) the rhythmic excitement of an ostinato, the feeling of a musical climax, or the beauty of a well-known melody can be experienced first-hand, by the simplest means possible, using instruments that are playable by young children.
The collection comes with a backing CD, a clear introduction to how the arrangements can be used, and a ‘composition workshop’ section which gives children the opportunity to have a go at composing for themselves. The workshop booklet and parts are both available to buy as a set.
