And when the moon shone in the heavens… (2006)

For marimba duo

Duration: 3’30’’

This fast-paced and exciting work for marimbas is a proven audience pleaser and has been toured across the UK by its commissioners, Meridian Duo.

The material is drawn from Oliver Rudland’s one-act opera The Nightingale and the Rose, and combines the lyrical romantic flavour of this work with the minimalist style of Steve Reich.

And when the moon shone in the heavens... fits perfectly beside a performance of Steve Reich's Nagoya Marimba and other such works.
